Collaborative care for transformative change.

Hi, we’re Emily and Stefania, two passionate Licensed Mental Health Counselors who believe in the transformative power of therapy. Our journey began with a shared vision: to help clients grow, heal, and build the fulfilling lives they deserve. With years of clinical experience, we’ve built a practice rooted in what matters most—genuine connection, trust, and collaboration. We work alongside you to identify your goals, navigate challenges, and celebrate your progress. We understand that one size doesn’t fit all, and provide personalized therapy tailored to your unique needs. Therapy with us isn’t a cold, clinical exchange; it’s a real, human conversation. We show up authentically, creating a judgment-free space where you feel truly seen and supported.

Whether you’re navigating life’s challenges or seeking personal growth, we’re here to support you with a therapy experience that is genuine, empowering, and rooted in compassion. At Mental Health Matters, we are dedicated to continuous learning, refining our expertise, and staying deeply committed to helping you thrive.

OUR VALUES

Our core values center on client care and therapist well-being, emphasizing inclusive therapy, strong therapeutic relationships, and continuous professional growth.

  • We approach therapy with humility and curiosity, recognizing the complex interplay of social, cultural, and systemic factors that shape our clients’ lives. We honor each individual’s unique identity and stand in solidarity with historically marginalized communities, advocating for social justice within and beyond the therapy room.

  • We believe the therapeutic relationship is the foundation of effective therapy, with client autonomy, authenticity, and collaboration at its core. Cultivating that relationship and continually assessing therapist fit is a dynamic, ongoing process where your voice and experience matter from the first inquiry to the final session.

  • We prioritize therapist well-being by maintaining balanced caseloads, setting clear boundaries, modeling self-care, and ensuring sustainability and quality in our work. When therapists are supported and thriving, they show up with presence, energy, and clarity—creating the conditions for deeper, more transformative work with their clients.

  • Ongoing growth is essential in our work. Each client brings a new story, a distinct world, and an opportunity to deepen our clinical insight. We evolve alongside our clients, continually expanding our expertise through learning, reflection, and collaboration with skilled colleagues. This commitment keeps our practice responsive, inclusive, and grounded in integrity.

Emily Mooradian, LMHC

Emily offers a therapeutic space rooted in authenticity and trust, where you can show up fully, feel truly seen, and begin to reconnect with yourself. With warmth, curiosity, and humor, she helps clients untangle what’s beneath the surface—exploring emotional patterns, processing complex feelings, and moving towards greater clarity and self-trust. Her holistic approach blends psychodynamic and person-centered frameworks with evidence-based strategies adapted to your individual needs and goals. She believes meaningful progress comes from both gaining insight and having practical tools for change, because understanding yourself is powerful but knowing how to take action is the key to lasting change.

Emily is deeply invested in supporting BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals, as well as high-achieving women struggling with perfectionism, people-pleasing, and burnout. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready to feel more at home within yourself, Emily meets you where you are with compassion and collaboration. Outside of the therapy room, Emily enjoys walks with her dog Lucy, practicing hot yoga, gardening, and exploring New York’s vibrant arts, food, and culture scene. Her life, like her work, is grounded in curiosity, exploration, and meaningful connection.

Stefania Mogavero, LMHC

Stefania believes therapy to be a collaborative space where the therapeutic relationship itself is a powerful catalyst for growth and transformation. She strives to bring a warm, engaged, and authentic presence to offer clients a space where they can slow down and connect with their complex inner world. With experience supporting LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC individuals, as well as queer, interethnic, and interracial couples, Stefania helps clients gain insight, heal from past wounds, and make transformative, sustainable changes. Together, you’ll explore your relationship with yourself and others, build resilience, strengthen self-trust, and embrace your inherent strengths, letting go of what no longer serves you along the way.

Beyond her work as a therapist, Stefania is an avid baker with creative interests and a love for pilates. A passionate New Yorker, she enjoys roaming the streets of Brooklyn with her dog, Sonny, and thrives on the city’s bustling culture of art, food, and connection with others. That same energy infuses her work and life: a commitment to staying curious and showing up fully for the richness of human experience.

KIND WORDS FROM MHM CLIENTS

KIND WORDS FROM MHM CLIENTS •

  • “Stefania has been a great asset to developing and bettering my own mental health in the past few years. I started seeing her because of a very specific family issue that has since been resolved, but I have continued to see her since. She is firstly very professional and comfortable in discussing the patient-therapist relationship, which helps to set boundaries and expectations in our sessions. She is also very empathetic and diligent in tracking changes in my (and I imagine her other patients) behavior, relationships, and moods.”

  • “Emily is always incredibly professional and attentive. Her memory for key details (even over the course of years), and ability to immediately jump back into my specific needs and concerns week to week has built a strong foundation of trust so that I always feel supported, heard, and understood no matter the topic or how long between sessions.”

  • “I have noticed a significant difference and improvement in my life since working with Stefania.”

  • “I couldn’t ask for a better therapist. Emily has helped me through some of the toughest experiences of my life, and I am eternally grateful for her support and guidance. Truly, it changed my life.”
